Adult Learners

Think you are too old to learn to play a musical instrument? Think again! If you have always dreamed of learning the guitar, now can be the ideal time to learn, or maybe you learnt years ago and want to regain some of that musical groove.

At Glenelg Guitar Studio a large proportion of my students are adults and senior ones at that. I have an easy to follow, structured plan to teach you guitar in the style that you like, be it classical or modern, and at your pace. I have years of experience in teaching Guitar to all ages and have a series of special learning techniques to help new adult students achieve their goals in a stress free environment.

Adults often have less time available but have a great appreciation of musical studies, with  research showing that learning and playing an instrument in your adult years can yield bountiful rewards. The therapeutic value of musical training includes a lowering of stress levels, a boost in brain functionality, a strengthening of the immune system, and an increase in positive thinking–not to mention that learning to play an instrument can be a lot of fun.

Looking for a new guitar ? Check this one out.

Looking for a new guitar ? Check this one out.

I came across this wonderful piece of Guitar madness in the book, Amazing Guitar Facts and Trivia. In 1984 Pat Metheny went to Manzer Guitars and asked them to build him a guitar with as many strings as possible. The result was the Pikasso, which has 2 sound holes and 4 necks. The Pikasso weighs 6.7kg, has 42 strings and when tuned to concert pitch is under 450kg of pressure.
Even the thought of tuning it gives me a headache. Check out the Pat Meheny video as well.

Duke of York acoustic session

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Duke of York Acoustic session. Andrew and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the crowd, and we hope that you all had a great time. Thankyou to the many people who have sent through their photos of the night which I thought captured some of the atmosphere of the outdoor venue.

We must have been ok as they want us back sometime or maybe it was just all the beer and pizza that you guys consumed.

Thanks again….Leigh and Andrew.
