Adelaide Guitar Festival – Ana Vidovic

Recently I was talking about my top 2 picks at the Adelaide Guitar Festival, being Tommy Emmanuel and Ana Vidovic, and it seems everyone has heard Tommy Emmanuel play but few of my students really know a great deal about Ana Vidovic.

Classical guitar at it’s best, but then I like guitar of all genres and its a huge change from Tommy Emmanuel. Anyway this is my favourite of her from YouTube.

Hope you get the chance to see either of them.

Leigh and Andrew’s Guitar video

I recently had a practice session with Andrew Williams, who is a student at Glenelg Guitar Studio and it was recorded by Ian (another student). Great fun and a real good lesson in performance techniques. We call ourselves One Dozen Strings.
Oh dear, do I always look that serious when I’m teaching ?.

Anyway hope you like it.

Adelaide International Guitar Festival

The Adelaide International Guitar Festival is coming to town in August 2012 and I will make sure that I get along to a few of the events.

What’s the best performance to see ?
Well there’s certainly lots of choice so make sure that you check out the program or go on-line here. My top picks are Sunday 5th August Guitar maestro Tommy Emmanuel  and Friday 10th August Anna Vidovic, a virtuoso Classical Guitarist from Croatia.

Ofcourse there are lots of others that I would also love to see as well, small groups, workshops, master classes, Meet the Maker, Conversations with Performers, and Guitar Competition Finals.  Many of these are free so make sure you check out the sessions.

Flamenco, Brazilian, Jazz, Blues, Guitar with String quartet; there’s just a huge amount on offer.

Who are you going to see ?  Let us know and write a review for our “Latest News”.
