Do you recognise this tune ?

It’s over 170 years old and still being played and recorded by a broad spectrum of musicians including Tom Jones and Rod Stewart. It’s been adapted for the opening titles of the 2014 Outlander TV series, but your favourite version might be the Canadian Punk band, The Real McKenzies cover on their 1995 debut album The Real McKenzies, or perhaps the whistling version 🙂 by Roger Whittaker.

If you are a Dr Who freak you might know that Patrick Troughton as the second Doctor played the song repeatedly on his recorder in Episode 6, Scene 10 of The Web of Fear (broadcast 9 March 1968).

Anyway no matter which way the “Skye Boat Song” is a great piece learn for grade 1 students upwards, so check out the video and add it to you repertoire, no matter what guitar you play.

Cheers
Leigh

O, I tried to access the 2 “comments” (which had my name to is) in your Comments’ Column, but I was unsuccessful. I do not know how to download it. I used my cursor/arrow, but I couldn’t access the 2 entries.
